I’ve got one or two rattles, but it’s keys or tins of boiled sweets hidden away! Take those out, and suddenly the rattles disappear.

I can't agree more with the positive posts on this thread. I have had my XC40 for 7 months now and cannot speak highly enough of it. I had been an owner of Audi A4s for 12 years, the XC40 is certainly on par with regards to comfort, and so far I have had no issues after 8,000 miles of driving. Must admit that this is the first auto that I have owned, but I am very happy with the cars performance and it copes extremely well on the German autobahns. Perhaps, you did indeed get a 'Friday afternoon' car.

A visit to your nearest Volvo dealer might be of benefit.
