Roof rack/bar width

Hello,

I'm after someone in the know about the width between the roof rails on an XC40 R design. I'm considering the Thule SlideBar and they come in three lengths 127cm, 144cm & 162cm (https://www.thule.com/en-gb/gb/roof-rac ... -_-8930000). I can see that the tyre width is 162.6 cm (centre to centre) but I have been unable to locate the measurement for the roof width!

I'm going to be carrying two canoes so ideally want the most width possible but don't want it to protrude too far either!

Anyone have experience with these bars, if so which bars have you have fitted to your XC40 - also anyone carried a canadian canoe on the roof?

I haven't got my XC40 yet so can't measure it myself!

My Wingbar Evos are 118. Pictures below show (if my maths are correct) how 144 (extra 13cm overhang) & 162 (extra 22cm) would look.

Didn't bother photographing for 127 as you'd barely notice.

Glad to have helped. For anyone considering the general question of roof bars, the Wingbar Evos are completely silent if you place them, as I have, quite rearward (front bar over B pillar, rear bar 700mm back). Not the most practical for heavy loads but, great if you want to leave them on permanently (front bar can be shifted forward as required). The Slide Bars originally drew a lot of criticism for rattling when no load attached - don't know if later iterations have solved this issue??
