Does anyone else have the same problem as me when selecting an item using Android Auto?
If I want to play a track or select an artist I seem only succeed in scrolling the screen either up or down.
I do that a couple of times and I get locked out for 30 secs as AA thinks I’m taking my eyes off the road too much.
It’s really quite frustrating to use especially as it’s so low in the display and can’t be set up to use the whole screen.
I don’t seem to struggle in the same way if I try this on AA stand-alone on the phone.

Sort of fixed it myself.
Rather than mess about trying to select a track whilst I’m driving I just use voice control to “play my music” and then just use judicious used of the skip button on the steering wheel.
As it’s My Music I come across something I like fairly quickly!
Guess Google don’t want you to be pressing anything anyway.

There's a new version rolling out later this year.
Looks a lot more like Apple Car Play & has play buttons in a bar at bottom of screen:
