A different fuel, admittedly, but my D4 started at 28.9mpg, and is now at 29.7mpg at 700 miles on the odometer. Don't know what you are all moaning about! Hahahaa.

I changed the settings so that the average mpg is no longer permanently displayed on the drivers display. That's stopped me from obsessing over the fuel consumption any more!

I’m getting an average of 25mpg which I’m happy with, it’s about the same as my Touareg

I'm rather worried by that D4 figure as I pick mine up a week on Monday. Currently getting 42/43 in my 190 TDI Tiguan which is heavier and driven fairly hard and was expecting similar. I knew T4 and T5 had an issue and indeed my salesman warned me off buying either.

It's only an "issue" if you obsess over fuel economy, in which case you've probably got the wrong category of car ;) :D

With 2700 on the clock best mpg I’ve recorded is 42mpg over a 600 mile round trip almost all motorway. Day to day average is working out at 36mpg and that’s about 90% city, 10% dual carriageway. A bit disappointing but not the end of the world...

I've done 792 miles in my T5, currently averaging 33.2 mpg according to Volvo on call. Very happy with that, particularly if it will improve with increasing mileage.

This is mostly commuting on motorway 48 miles per day between Manchester and Warrington with heavy traffic at both ends and city driving. I've done one longer journey of 130 miles.

I’ve had mine just over 6 months , ive been very driver oriented and mine is showing 29.5. This is a figure I’m reasonably happy with , as the car is great. I did get 33 on a run of 100 miles ( motorway and A roads) at a reasonably sedate 60-65mph . I just don’t know why people complain about MPG when you’re driving a 250 bhp car !.
