Has anyone found the perfect refillable water bottle for their XC40?

Or knows the diameter of the cup holders?

Thanks!

Background: We just ordered our XC40 and are super-excited… our old lease was up so we couldn’t wait for a bespoke one - but it does mean it should arrive in 2 weeks all being well… Our camelback water bottles keep leaking, think the seals have gone, so in the mean time thought would be fun to get my wife and I a new water bottle each so we’re ready to go when the new car arrives.

Thanks Hes, that looks like my kinda thing.

The wife is keen on a metal Chilly’s bottle (https://www.chillysbottles.com/product/ ... 626979859/)

I notice the Nalgene comes in at 7.5cm diameter, while these ones are 7.6cm @ 750ml.

Hopefully there is 1mm of tolerance (am hoping 7.6 is a standard size…)

There are four spring clips in each of the cup holders - a bottle size diameter of 3 inches or 76 mm will fit nicely with the clips just compressed.
The springs don't fully compress in to the housing so a diameter of 82 mm would probably be the maximum.

@sanjaime thanks this is super-helpful. We can definitely go for a Chilly bottle then.

Francis, i note the 750 ml Chilli bottle is 76 mm diameter - but it is 300 mm tall ?

Please be aware the depth of the cup holder is only about 60 mm so stability of a tall bottle could be an issue

The tops of two 300 mm tall bottles in the holders will be almost aligned with the bottom of the centre display screen, albeit 180 mm (front) and 280 mm (rear) back from the bottom of the screen.

(Sizing tested with a can of beans 110 mm tall and a pint milk bottle 180 mm tall, which were fine, in an Auto XC40.)

@SanJaime - wow - thank you so much - hadn’t considered the height. Very much appreciated.

Although this does fill me a bit with fear that I will find an open can of cold beans in the cup holder one day now!

I regularly put a 750ml cycling water bottle in the cup holder, similar to a Camelbak. I don’t think you’ll have any issue with their height. Seems secure enough.

Enjoy!
