pjm007 wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2018 12:52 pm Just found that I could configure an R-Design D4 AWD on the Volvo Ireland website from scratch amd spec it up to my First Edition config. The price came to almost €65,000 which at current exchange rates is around £56,000!
:o
WOW!

Interesting that Ireland doesn't seem to get the first edition version. Us lucky Brit's?

The £1500 deposit contribution is available with PCP and 0% HP finance with the First Edition. Other models only get £500. There is also a free 3 year service plan with the PCP finance.

Cheers
Alistair
Where does the 0% HP finance element come in?
Ditto.

Hadn't seen or been offered that in my own dealings. Though given current rates (and possible trade in values on existing car) might have been of marginal calc personally (combined with I know it is then not hanging over me). Still interested to know what the terms/arrangements were though.

Yes - no sign of any mention of FE on the Irish site.

Without going into detail (and thereby annoying anyone on here), there was a higher level of deposit (i.e. Volvo Finance) contribution available for PCP based orders placed in December plus a local dealer contribution in addition by negotiation. Plus of course the free servicing. Made the overall deal a no brainer.

On the XC40 Volvo are offering 0% HP. You need a 50% deposit and pay the rest over 24 or 36 months at 0%apr. You get the £1500 deposit contribution with this as well.

Interesting. Hadn't seen that referred to anywhere else. Not sure I would want to fork out 20 grand up front though!

Yes looks to be a new offering as likewise haven't seen it anywhere. I'd assume that there are some set up costs (there always are) but would hope that that would be partially offset by the £1500 deposit contribution. So if a 100% original borrower this might cut your borrowing costs in half(?).

Wonder how it works if you are also part exchanging - does that effectively reduce the net value due (e.g £40k car less £10k trade in) so a smaller 50% deposit (£15k) on the balance and amount "borrowed" £!5k @ 0% or is it that the 50% deposit (20K) on the total value of the car (£40k) and then the part-exchange goes against your 50% interest free principal (so now =20K-10k= £10k). EIther way Volvo finance aren't really giving you that much interest free but it all sounds very nice and easy (and bottom line of the contract is signed - clever!).

There are no set up costs. The deposit contribution is added to 50% of the price of the car you have agreed with the dealer and the rest is 0%.

I had heard of the 0% offer, it was mentioned in the quote I had from Drive The Deal, but I couldn't find any mention of it on the Volvo site so thought they must have made a mistake.

Car of the year, loaded with every extra available and under the luxury car tax bracket, I am willing to gamble that you could run a First Edition for a year or possibly two and still achieve an excellent resale figure?
