I have recently ordered a T3 Inscription Pro. Just thinking I may have made the wrong choice of engine , so any comments would be appreciated. Downsizing from S80 as now just require a smaller car for local trips

Hi. If your other choice is a T4, then I can say it’s a great engine. I got my T4 early December and love it. I’ve moved from a 2.0 Tfsi Audi TT, so quite a change, however in dynamic mode its potent enough given the size of it. I probably would have happily gone for a t3, however I wanted AWD and Auto so had to go T4. The XC40 isn’t a car to be pushed hard so if your happy without AWD, T3 will probably be just fine.

Many thanks for this much appreciated. I had a test drive in a T3 and was very happy with it. Having then read a couple of road test reports I became a little concerned. A users view is always more accurate.

Hi, I’ve also ordered a T3 and have been wobbling about it’s performance. You’re not alone! I think for city driving it’s going to be just fine. I’ve read that if you’re planning on putting you’re foot down at 70mph to overtake on a suitable carriageway, you may need to shift down a gear or two to get moving!

Followed a T3 today & (s)he wasn't hanging about.

As above, T4 for me simply for AWD/auto but, judging on what I witnessed today, the T3 isn't lacking.

Perhaps, aurally, doesn't suit everyone but...I actually like 3 pots (part-time motorcyclist :) )

Test drove a T3 manual and ordered a T4 FWD auto, new MY20 spec for UK. Told will be delivered in June.

Well I picked up my T3 Inscription Pro a couple of week ago and can confirm that it is no slouch. Previously I owned a Qashqai 1.5 diesel, so moving to the T3 was a big change for me. The car drives really well and the acceleration is very sharp - it certainly will not be as fast to 60 as a T4 or T5, but unless you are a 'boy racer', I dont think you will be disappointed. I particularly like the stop-go, which coupled to the automatic brake makes it really easy to relax at lights. When engaging the gear the car quickly starts and the brake releases very quickly. This is definitely a better system than used on my Qashqai. So if you have not yet got your iPro keep the faith, the wait is worth it.

Hi all, having spent much time browsing the interweb and manufactures specs etc and as a big fan of small, high efficiency engines I finally test drove and subsequently ordered a T3 manual R-Design (as it comes with no frills, just a spare wheel/jack pack)....delivery June-ish! Having come directly from a 595 190bhp 500 Abarth I was pleasantly impressed with the test drive, and so, more importantly, was my Mrs! Considering that the next model down Abarth runs 160bhp the T3 at 156-163bhp* bobbed along very nicely and overtaking in the 50-70mph region was very acceptable (didn`t get chance to do a bit of a motorway run tho`) ...can`t wait for June!
By the way on the bhp* of the T3, 2019 spec. Volvo/web quote 156hp. and yet, being banded about, every where, except Volvo GB just now, the 2020my spec. is shown/advised as 163hp?...........can anyone confirm this?

You are right MY20 goes up to 163hp but Volvo haven't updated the UK website yet. Will be interested if people notice a difference once they arrive.

Yes, T3 is slightly more powerful in UK MY20 and it can be manual or automatic.
