No, it is not the lane departure system. Thanks for your thoughs anyway. Will post here when The garage solves it.

I hope you've hit the nail on the head. They all do that!

I have the same issue. I have a T3 manual and feel vibrations through the steering wheel and foot pedals. Passenger can feel it too. Again, only when on dual carriageway or motorways at speed. My dealer has no idea either. Let me know if you're find a solution. :?

Sadly no solution yet.

The problem is unrelated to engaged gear/rpm, even neutral gives same symptoms. Vibrations are just one part of the problem. Main issue is the rhythmic resonating sound (like wind chatter through an slightly opened window) in sync with the vibration.

Whether this is cabin pressure, aerodynamic or vibration related I don't know. But after 10 days in the garage, I'm getting the idea Volvo is unable or unwilling to solve the problem.

Hi, I just wanted to jump on here and say that I'm experiencing the same thing with my T5 Inscription. My car is in the US.

All the symptoms you've described are exactly the same for my car.

I got the vehicle back from the dealership yesterday after a balance, rotation and alingment and, I swear, it feels worse now. I was waiting to see what the result would be after the work to determine if it was tire related. Now I suspect something in the driveline.

What IS frustrating is the dealership said they "couldn't feel anything".

I'll keep you updated on what I find.

Sad to hear you experience the same problems.

My car has not been fixed yet, although several technicians have worked on it. The problem has been split into two by Volvo.

1. Conclusion is that the resonating sound cannot be fixed and is characteristic of the car. Many drivers don't seem to notice it... They told ordering a new XC40 will have the same droning noice.

2. They plan to fix the vibration at Volvo.

I test drove 3 XC40's now:
t4 automatic r-design demo car of the dealer; noticed point 1
d3 manual r-design from Volvo NL; noticed point 1
d3 manual momentum (my own); point 1 and 2 present

Have had the same thing here in the U.S. with my T5 Inscription

Service managers does not dispute and calls it body resonance which I feel is likely the result of the production on the new frame.

Nonetheless th only other annoyance is a constant service or repair needed and when you look for what’s wrong there is nothing on the screen

Here in the states there is no 3 month checkup and after 6 months if it starts I enjoy the spirit of the T5

Well, I find it hard to believe this resonance can be considered normal or acceptable. Also so little people complaining here is astonishing, as I notice it every drive.

But I think there is no solution, as Volvo stated they will and cannot solve the resonance.
