If it makes you feel any better, my car also needed a new sunroof but for a completely different reason. In my case the mechanism was straight on one side and very obviously bent on the other which meant I couldn't open or close it properly.

The job sheet says 'new cassette' which is essentially the entire assembly except for the glass itself. I've had no problems since (touch wood.)

Crikey - well at least they're dealing with it.

I've still not got round to doing anything further with mine. i've lost all faith (and interest) in my dealer due to another issue I have but really need to do something

Thanks for that, had visions of the garage removing the full length glass roof.
Roof did judder on the passenger side a few times when closing so could be bent
and out of line letting the water in.
Picking up the car tomorrow and it will be booked back in when parts arrive. Will be
checking with dealer for a time scale.
Not a fan of the V40 courtesy car.

How's things since the replacement?

Mine still isn't sorted. Still has a strange noise from the roof when driving too. Positive there's a seal issue but it doesn't look out of line so god knows.

I had a strange sort of tapping/ gurgle sound from what seemed to be the roof.
It happened several times whilst driving down the motorway in heavy rain.
I assume it was coming from the sunroof drains.
Will have to investigate.

Thats the exact noise I get. My mrs thinks it sounds like water inside the roof. I have had it before when it hasn't rained as well though but it has been very evident during the recent bad weather. I fully dried the roof out one day (had it open and let the air do its work) but its now drenched inside again

New sunroof was fitted yesterday.
Seal was also replaced as the mech on the passenger side had damaged it.
Will have to keep a listen out for water noises when out driving in heavy rain
and check the fly screen.
