Voice Control Update

I noticed that Volvo published new updates as of yesterday, 13th September for both the voice control and European mapping (v1233)

After I downloaded the voice control update to a USB stick, I plugged it into the car but all I get is a message saying 'cannot read file as a newer version is already installed' - is anyone else getting the same error?

It's impossible that a newer version is already installed unless it somehow downloaded itself to the car over the internet yesterday? It usually tells me about any pending software updates as soon as an internet connection is established after starting the car and in any case lets me choose whether to install them or not.

Are we able to install sensus software updates ourselves? If so, how? I'd be interested in doing this. Thx.

Another update for voice control has been released as of 17/09/18 version 32247761AA and I've successfully updated the car this morning with it.

I can only imagine that this release, as well as containing the updates from the last one simply resolves the problem of the car not recognising the file as being a newer version as there's only 4 days between the last release on 13/09/18 and this.

It does work now. Found out that the version of 13/09/18 installed the previous version of 11/04/2018 on the usb stick, whereat the version of 17/09/18 really installed the new version on the usb stick.
Unfortunately, the new version doesn't fix the problem we had where the flemish language didn't work at all, we now can idicate the flemisch language but we hear the dutch language (almost the same) but can't chose between male or female voice when indicating flemisch. Only thing which is better is we don't have to switch between querty and azerty keybords anymore...

The one fix I have noticed is that numbers on the female voice (English) are now pronounced correctly e.g. two and four are now pronounced as 'too' and 'for' as opposed to 'tuh' and 'fuh' in certain contexts. I haven't tried the male voice yet but I assume the same fix has been applied accordingly.

Hi all,
I tried to install the update but i am not sure what I am doing wrong :
I used the Usb and the head unit prompted me to install the update of the voice database.
I answered yes and started the installation. The engine was not running and after some time the unit turned off completely. I started the engine and unit booted asking me again to install the update.

Do I have to keep the engine running while the update takes place?

Is there a sign that the update is completed successfully?

Thanks
Chris

One more question, if anyone can help:
While trying to install the update there is no indication of the process:

"the update the screen shows how much of the process remains, counted as a percentage." as per the Volvo support site does not appear.

Did anyone see a progress bar or percentage ?

Sorry for asking again but it seems after 45 minutes of waiting, i turned off the engine and the install seemed to abort, leaving the voice recognition not functioning...

Thanks
Chris

I believe the ignition must be on but the engine doesn't necessarily have to be running.

On mine I just waited for the new file to install once it had picked it up from my USB stick. The install didn't take too long as I recall, certainly nowhere near 45 mins.

You mustn't allow the sensus to turn off whilst the installation is taking place in order for it to complete successfully.
