Hi, does anyone know if the XC40 indicator bulbs are PY21W or PY24W? The manual states PY24W but it appears that owners here have been using PY21W without any problems?

Cheers

The indicator bulbs are PY21W or BAU15S fitting, the indication of PY24W in the manual is wrong.
Brake light bulbs are H21W or BAY9S fitting.
The road is more important than the destination.

For those interested:
Original PY21W indictor bulb: 280 lumen
Original H21W brake light bulb: 600 lumen
The original bulb lumens quoted, is that 'per bulb' or as a 'pair'? The reason I ask is that lumens quoted on the various web sites seem to vary ie, 1000lms for say a pkt. of led ind. bulbs, is then referred to as 500lms 'per bulb' in the product info. Clearing this up would be a great help.
XC40 T3 R-Design (as it comes, no frills) FWD, Manual, my2020, 163bhp, Crystal White, Tempa Spare Wheel Kit, Folding boot floor, Sunglasses Holder. Paintwork/Trim sealed with Zirconite Quartz Nano Coating, Park assist camera kit (self fit)

The indicated lumens are per bulb, not as a pair.

I have noticed that the LED bulbs are impacting the reception on my DAB radio. Pressing the brake or turning on the indicator will cut off the DAB radio. It only happens some areas (presumably the reception in these areas are poor), but in those areas the radio will consistently cut off when the brake is pressed and come back on when the brake is released.

I read somewhere that LEDs can cause reception issues and that the Volvo's DAB antenna is in the boot, not on the roof?

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi, same subject but different car. I decided to fit LED brake lamps in my 1999 Mitsubishi Shogun Mk2 (yes, people, a 20 year old car being used as a daily driver). At £25 a pair from an online LED Bulb specialist, they weren’t cheap. You can get much cheaper LED lamps from EBay but these came with a guarantee that they wouldn’t cause errors. I fitted them and took it around the block. Everything seemed good, although the brake booster pump came on straight away within a couple of yards. The pump normally comes on at the same point as you start your journey. You could actually set your watch at the point it starts pumping.
My wife used it to go to work the next morning. During her journey, the ABS light came on amongst other lights. I changed the lamps back to normal and we’ve never experienced anymore issues. The car ISN'T designed for LEDS. So why fit them???
