had my xc40 for a week great except the voice guidance on the sat nav mumbles road number over over 2 digits. Also female voice cannot say motorway male voice mumbles "2 miles" not a great problem except when you are concentrating driving in an area unknown to you.
also why does the voice and the digital display not give the same distances
not had this problem in any other sat nav even on the S60.
is this a common problem?

I have the same problem with the voice. It doesn't say 2's or 4's correctly (recently I had to use the B1248 on several occasions, the SatNav pronounced it as the B oneterfreight! ) The voice is poor and robotic, I much preferred the voice in my old V60 which I suspect was the same as in your S60. Can't say I've noticed the discrepancy in the voice and display distances, have to admit that I mute the voice most of the time now anyway.
