T5 - Start/Stop

I haven't had a chance to do a long trip recently and only done a few short shopping/in-law visits, but the start/stop doesn't seem to be kicking in. I know from the manual that it has to meet certain engine/safety conditions but even after 30 mins of town driving in standard comfort mode, the 'Ready' indicator on the dash is always greyed out (meaning start/stop is on but not ready) - anyone had inconsistent start/stop in their T5?

I now disable Start Stop every time as I find it too annoying. Whilst I was using it it seemed to be almost too eager to switch off but there were a few occasions when it didn't stop when I expected that it would I have also experienced it re-starting whilst being stationary for more than a minute. Looking through the owner's manual there is a long list of conditions under which it won't auto-stop. I've strongly suspected that it is something to do with the climate control and the recent hot weather as the manual states that Start-Stop doesn't function when "The environment in the passenger compartment deviates from the set values".

My T5 also has inconsistent stop/start. I have also only being doing comparitively short journeys recently and it has stopped working. I have a longer trip planned next week so will see if it starts again and how long it keeps working.

I just got my FE last week but my prev car (alfa) stopped on/off when used on local a lot as the battery dropped below pre set level. If cabin temp level was not as set this also will inhibit operation but easy to check as just turn off climate control.

My D4 can is a bit unpredictable with the stop start on shorter journeys.
I generally switch it off if I remember as stop starting several times when in slow moving queues etc can't be could for the car.
What would be great is if Volvo could program Sensus to show a button on the home screen that you can press when you know you're going to be stationary long enough to make it worth stopping the engine like pulling up at traffic lights.

I am not sure as I am still waiting for my XC40, but if you turn off auto start/stop and when at traffic lights based on the user guide: "Stop the car with the foot brake and then keep your foot on the brake pedal - the engine stops automatically"
Will this not do what you expect?

Strat stop works through an extra battery, it doesn’t use the main battery, short trips will not recharge it sufficiently, so start stop will not work until this secondary power source is charged....

Hi,
Can the Start/Stop be turned off permanently?

Certainly can be with a more recent software update in the USA, but last heard on here from UK that it's not included in our update. Not got my XC40 yet, so not been able to badger the dealer about why.

Just thought I'd bump this:

After doing loads of short 30-60 minute journeys over the last 6 weeks, and with the Start/Stop seemingly dead, the secondary power source was charged enough yesterday after doing a 2 hour journey and it's back on again.
