I read somewhere that you cant plug your 3 pin charging cable into a 3 pin cable extension. Is this correct whats the difference to plugging it into a fixed socket?
Thanks

You can. But using an extension introduces extra plugs and sockets where there's a risk of poor contacts and heat. As long as the cable is in good condition and rated for 13A, it should be fine, bearing in mind any protection needed from the weather. Worth checking while in use that the plug at the house end isn't getting hot. The plug on the supplied charging cable has its own thermal protection.

There's also voltage drop to consider. If you do decide to use one, probably best to use one with 2.5mm2 core cable (as opposed to the 1.5mm2 core cable most come with).

Good point. Certainly if the run is 20 metres or more I'd go for 2.5mm flex.
