My 2020 R-design has the keyless boot opening where you waggle your foot under the bumper and it opens.

However it is massively inconsistent and I end up looking like someone having an electric shock in the street trying to open the boot before putting boxes down and using the key!!

Does anyone have any tricks or tips on how to get this to work better and where best to ‘waggle’ one’s foot!!?!

There are a couple of threads on this topic, use the search bar.
Try not to stay close to the boot since the sensor won’t open the door in order not to hit you (beeping sound). Aim your under bumper kick aligned with the O letter from the Volvo inscription on the boot door. For me it works every time at first try.

It took me a while to get it sussed but now I get it first time 99% of attempts. I second @eugen61's advice and would also add that it's a kick not a waggle!

To be more specific, I meant the first letter O, not the last, from the Volvo inscription…

Hi joeldram
I find if you kick where the reversing sensor is on the near side rear of the bumper it works every time . Hope it works 👍

I had the exact same problem when I got mine and thought there was a problem with it. I did a search and the answer for me was to kick and and STEP BACK from the door, I wasn't stepping back. Now it works every time.

Cheers.

I understand your frustration, for me it was akin to learning to dance.. While i have occasional failures, I found the that a kick under the O, then step back works more often.
