Anyone with a XC40 PHEV notice the charging timer has vanished from the charging locations?

Previously had a timer in place and all worked fine. Within the last couple of weeks it's gone...

Created a weird situation where the charge port light would turn blue, and in the VOC app it still said 'Paused' - but there was no longer an un-pause button and despite the blue / pause status showing, it was actually charging as soon as connected.

Deleted the location and recreated after another charge, but still no timer function. Same on my Wife's phone, so think its the app.

Reported via custcare@volvocars.com and got a response saying "we're not technical, contact a retailer". As it seems to be an App problem, I can't imagine it will be something a Volvo dealer can help with.

Anyone experienced the same, or worked out where to report Volvo app faults too?

Thanks!

That is an unhelpfull response from customer care. I have previously reported app problems to them and they were quite good at passing them on to a technical team and getting a resolution. Maybe you just got someone feeling in a bad mood.

In fairness to them, they were apologetic that they couldn't help.. but nonetheless, its not the kind of response I was expecting.

Just had a second reply (as I questioned who I should go to)

Evidently the 'On Call App' team specialise in the driving journal part of the app

There is a central technical team for other elements, who you have to go to a retailer to feedback to.

Very odd...

Not very customer centric in their response. In fairness to the customer services team, techies (I used to be one) are mostly non customer facing and not good with the general public :) Customer services should either field all the issues and pass on or pass directly for the customer to then be able to explain or assist in the problem determination of the issue. Perhaps the issue is they are all Swedish or from some other part of the world and perhaps not have great (or any) english skills. Most things IT these days are outsourced and far away.

Now that I’ve read this, I too have lost the schedule option.

Probably this is a feature not a bug:

There are multiple reports in a german XC40 forum where the use of the scheduler function will deplete the 12V On Board battery (not the HV battery):

While standing in standby, waiting to be charged, the system consumes energy from the 12V battery and tends to exhaust it.

In this forum it was reported that the charging timer / scheduler was removed as result of their issues until a solutions has been found.

I remember seeing a thread were something like that was said.
Being true it’s kind of a dumb thing not to consider.. but ok..

Now what? A feature is “taken”.. in my case a feature that I use and took into consideration when buying the car.

@goi anyone at the German forums got a reply from Volvo with a fix?

Interesting if that's right, and hopefully something they fix soon then... charging is 1/3rd of the cost when charging overnight on an Octopus Go tariff.

I did report to the local dealer - not surprised to have had no response as yet.

Thanks for the info....

I have an answer for you all. I too noticed the removal from the app and called my dealer. Spoke to the Master Tech who did a bit of digging. The feature was removed from the app in the 1st week of Nov due to the problems it caused draining the 12v battery (many posts about that problem). When charging has finished some systems of the car still run off the 12v until the car is unplugged and locked.

More software issues!! Allegedly a fix is expected 2nd quarter 2021.

Moral of the story is unplug as soon as charging complete.

Thnks for the info.

Although Volvo must surely understand it’s not really a solution. Especially during the pandemic where I got out once or twice a week and leave the car charging afterwards until next week.

They should inform us of such problem in order to protect our 12v’s. Otherwise they might have a lot off batteries to replace under warranty
