I have frequently a creaking sound (like a creaking door) when getting into car coming out from A/C, it looks to me that's the mechanism 'tuning' into right temperature.
It is not that annoying as it usually stops after 1 minute or so and I don't hear it again for the whole journey, but..
is it a common issue?

It is a known issue.
They replaced mine ,so I think so.....
As after a few weeks the creaking came back!
So not sure if they only greased the valves or replaced the unit with a refurbished one...and not with a new one.

That's what I am afraid of..
Might be better leave it as is. As in my case, the sounds disappear after few moments.

But you say the issue eventually was not resolved, and you're not sure if they replaced it.. actually, you should see it in your receipt somewhere
