I have just started a thread on rear pads also - i had one locked on and rubbing against the right rear and they claimed it was 'normal' wear and tear'!

am in course now investigating with thebgarage what has actually happened but they are reluctant to engage and want to just claim its not a warranty issue so please pay £500 for the replacement and labour of various parts. NO way!

My wife's XC40 has just had its second service and been told that rear Pads 5mm discs lipped and front pads down to 8mm. The cost to repair £399 and some pennies. Keep in mind this vehicle has just turned two years old and has not got 17K miles on the clock I find a wee bit shocking. I will get my wife to release the handbrake manually from now on and I will start doing the same thing with my XC40. Her previous XC60 ran for 4 years on the original pads. Poor show Volvo.
