Just as an update. Logged out of app and back in and now all seems to be normal. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all your comments

To make things even worse, a week ago I checked the car and the app said “car in use” but looking at the map it was somewhere in Ukraine.....

May I just add one suggestion that, although it may not be related to OP's original issue, is possibly good practice for Android users?? (can't say for sure as didn't experiment with this particular app).

Android has become obsessed with battery optimisation & will stop apps from running in the background. I set Volvo On Call to both ignore battery optimisation and be allowed to run in the background from day 1 - didn't want any alerts to be delayed or missed - it maybe OK without but, didn't want to take chances
