Re: Volvo thinking of charging for “Digital Services” in future

I’ve completed the same survey and totally agree with Rifleman’s comments.

Re: Blind spots.

Donmac, with BLIS you should have absolutely no problems with any blind spots. The mirrors are good and the orange warning is something you very soon get used to as a benefit. The 360 camera is great for slow speed manoeuvring. BLIS has certainly helped on a few occasions in supermarket car parks wh...

Re: Windscreen replacement

I had my heated screen replaced by AutoGlass just over 18 months ago. Insurance company agreed to an OEM screen. Had to be done at their fitting centre due to recalibrating the sensors. Was all done without issue. Recalibrated by way of a road test with took about 30 minutes on top of the screen rep...

Re: A Eureka Moment on MPG...

Another Eureka moment. 40.3 mpg recorded by VOC on a 190 mile trip down the M4 M5 and A30 from from Membury services to Bodmin. 70mph most of the time and an an average of 65mph. Economy drive mode with mix of adaptive cruise and manual throttle.
Not bad for a T5

The hook like links low down behind the front seats are to secure the bottom of the safety net. The top hooks into the sockets above the doors.

Re: Which options / packs are a must?

I’m fortunate in having a first edition. Options weren’t an issue as the car came with all of them included.. The one I’d miss most is definitely the 360 parking cameras, followed by the parking sensors. I leave the heated seats and wheel on low and have them set to come on automatically in low temp...

Re: What have you just found out about your XC40.

A quick word of warning re the speed limiter.. The car does not always read the speed limit signs correctly. It can also read and apply signs related to side roads and speed limit signs on the back of foreign trucks. I’ve seen 80 showing in a 40mph zone. On my way into the local town on a 30mph I re...

Re: Goodbye Volvo XC40

I’ve had my car since March 2018 having ordered it unseen apart from magazine articles and the brochure. I’ve had none of the issues that others have had. At the 12 month service the starter battery sensor failed as I drove away from the dealers. The car was booked in a couple of days later and alth...

Re: Can you drive the T5 sedately?

I would totally agree that the T5 is perfectly capable of being driven sedately. It just depends how much control you have over your right foot. My car is currently averaging 34+mpg following a series of pre-lockdown motorway journeys. This is mainly as a result of treating the throttle carefully. I...

Re: D3 Fuel consumption...

Hi Today I travelled home from west Cornwall. 355 miles in 6 1/4 hours of motorway driving (excluding stops) and achieved 39.5 mpg. I usually manage about 32 mpg in real world driving on a mixture of town roads, country lanes and dual carriageways. I normally use the eco setting. I’m quite pleased w...
