Re: Double issue ; loss of power and city safety

I had a similar issue a couple of days ago, being forced to go up a steep narrow hill with a cold engine - I had to keep the speed down to around 15 mph (blind bends) but the car slowed right down and almost stalled because it wouldn't change to a lower gear. I rammed the accelerator into kick-down ...

Re: Wireless Charging Solution

I bought a splitter/adapter for the cigarette lighter socket, giving 2 sockets and a couple of USB sockets as well, so my dashcam is permanently plugged in to it and I still have a spare socket. Much easier than trying to hard-wire the dashcam, and it fits neatly.

Re: Stupid profiles/seat memory!!!

My dealer said to make sure that the "other" key is well away from the car when you first set profiles. However, once set up the car should select the profile according to whichever key was used to unlock it. Is it possible that the car was already unlocked (from your wife's key earlier) w...

Re: XC40 T5 tuning - 310

I tried a couple of fills but couldn't detect any difference, and MPG certainly didn't improve so I've gone back to normal fuel - although I don't use the cheaper supermarket fuels. The Shell V-Power is around 13p per litre more expensive than standard Shell petrol here, and there's no way I can see...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph

Seems that Volvo have been fairly thorough then - although it should have been fairly obvious to change one wheel at a time (once the problem had been eliminated with exchange wheels) to identify which corner was causing the problem - and then replace the "good" wheel at 180 degrees from t...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph

From my experience, wheel vibration at around 50mph is usually due to lack of static balance on the wheel & tyre, and at 80mph is from lack of dynamic balance of the whole wheel assembly. The lower speed vibration can also be due to tyres not running true (I had an out-of-round one once that def...

Re: 3 Year Service Plan

My car was picked up on 4th October; certificate arrived by email 3 days later. My dealer had warned me that there were changes to the service deal due at the beginning of October and he registered the car on 30th September just in case it was withdrawn (it cost me a month of lost road tax, over £40...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph (aside)

Elvo57 - Interesting that your car experience is very similar to mine! My wife had a Yeti 2.0 diesel (chipped to about 160 bhp) and now has an XC40 T5 Inscription Pro; my car is an SLC (facelifted SLK) with the 9-speed automatic gearbox and a tuned 235 BHP 2-litre petrol engine. The XC40 is a shared...

Re: VOC app

That average MPG figure looks frightening  is that a single journey or average overall since you got the car? The MPG figure mine displayed at first was awful - around 22 MPG - then I remembered that the dealer had the engine running for nearly an hour whilst explaining to my wife how everyt...

Re: Volvo - Road Hawk Dashcam

When my dealer saw the Nextbase dashcam I have, which is currently fitted about 5cm from the binnacle on the passenger side (virtually hidden from the driver's sight) he suggested moving it to the bottom corner of the windscreen, passenger side. I haven't moved it yet, as it doesn't seem to have cau...
