In support of Sensus navigation

I know that the Sensus navigation has some problems but I thought I'd share some love for the much-maligned Satnav. We've just got back from a break in Cornwall where I would generally have defaulted to using Android Auto. However, I got really fed up with it taking me down tight country lanes where...

Re: Brake Pad wear

Just talked to Volvo on chat
The response was “ Unfortunately it doesn't have break pad monitors in the vehicle”
(Note their spelling not mine).

Re: Brake Pad wear

Most cars have a warning. Even the 27 year old car I have just sold had one. its a circle with an exclamation mark inside it. Comes up either red or amber with an associated message defining the nature of the problem. Umm isn’t that a generic brake failure rather than a pad wear warning? Although I...

Brake Pad wear

I was into an Independent Tyre retailer just now and asked about how much material was left on my brake pads. They had a look and said I had 5k miles left but no need to worry as it will show a warning on the dashboard when its time for replacement. Cant remember ever seeing that referenced anywhere...

Re: Loving my 1 year young XC40 :)

But Volvo doesn't want you to buy a Volvo thus the retail price is pretty meaningless. Indeed whilst I am in a company car this time round, I tend to jump in and out of the private car/company car option every few years and I cannot remember the actual cash price of the car even entered the discussi...

Re: Style over substance. IMHO

Indeed, interesting points. I've had mine for just over three years and on balance, still love it. I had a look at other cars and couldn't find anything (electric) that was reasonably priced that took my fancy so I'll probably stay with it for a year longer. Nothing has failed, nothing has fallen of...

Re: Cleaning chrome window strips

A bit late now, but if you filter your water for the final rinse using a 0ppm water filter you will not have to worry about water deposits, indeed you won't have to even wipe dry, the water will just evaporate leaving no water marks. It’s a good point. I remember when I had a black carI looked into...

Re: Cleaning chrome window strips

Looks like it’s a plastic base and quite delicate.
I’ll try the lemon or white vinegar first and move onto bathroom limescale remover and report back.

Cleaning chrome window strips

I’ve just been cleaning the car and noticed that the chrome window trims are tarnished by limescale (we live in a really hard water area). My normal cleaning kit wont shift it so before I attack it with kitchen cleaner and a brillo pad ( ) I wondered if anyone had some more gentle ways of remo...

Re: Service Plan

That’s reassuring, especially considering the amounts being quoted for a service elsewhere in the forum.

Thanks for the response.
