Re: Extended Warranty after 3 years
The extended warrantee appears to be recommended by Volvo but is actually administered by CarCarePlan Ltd. They state: "The warranty offers full protection against the cost or replacement of any factory-fitted mechanical or electrical component which suffers a sudden mechanical or electrical fa...

Bird strikes
A cheeky little blue tit has been visiting my car regularly, even when it is under a narrow enclosed carport, clinging to the driver's window surround and viewing itself . Apart from the inevitable droppings, it has left small claw marks on the plastic moulding. I am optimistic that deployment of th...

Re: Fuel filing
Thanks for these tips Felindre. I'll experiment a bit next time. Funny that I've only experienced this problem in recent months, though.

Re: Fuel filing
I have had this irritation in recent months. At first it seemed to be because I had switched to E10 fuel. Ridiculous, I know, but this happened at three different filling stations (BP, Tesco and my usual Shell). It never happened with Shell premium fuel at my usual station until the most recent visi...

Re: What don't you like about your XC40?
There is a voice control to initiate recirculation: "Recirculation On" (or Off). I confess I haven't tried it but it's there in the manual.

Re: Itching after handling parcel shelf
Surely there must be some knowledgeable Volvo employees keeping an eye on this group. It is a pity they don’t answer factual questions such as this.

Re: Remote key battery
I think I did not explain myself adequately. I know about the paragraph in the manual, which is essentially the same as the comparable one in the manual for my previous car, a V40. Only ten days earlier, the key had unlocked the car without hesitation from a good 20 metres or more so I had no reason...

Remote key battery
This is my second Volvo surprise this week. After 30 months use, the battery in the remote key failed today and the car would not unlock. Fortunately, I was at home so my wife’s key was available. There should have been a warning of low battery voltage in the driver display but I did not see one and...

Re: Start/stop engine feature not working for over 1 year
My goodness Oldie. In all your years of driving have you never made an embarrassing misjudgement? And I presume you have the parking sensors switched off in your car?

Re: Start/stop engine feature not working for over 1 year
Of course I have to agree with you Oldie, don’t I? Nevertheless, I explained that I nudged the wall very gently because I have found the sensors useful in tucking in close to the object behind the car when I am moving at the slowest crawl. Otherwise, what are the parking sensors for ?
