Re: What irritates you about your Volvo XC 40?

Modern engine controls include knock sensors which monitor the engine for pre-ignition or detonation and will adjust the ignition timing and fueling to prevent damage. The only penalty for running lower octane fuel is a slight decrease in engine performance as the system will make adjustments to com...

Re: Volvo’s Integrated Running Boards

I don't know - these just don't look at all practical to me. I just don't see how even a small child would have issues getting in the XC40. I feel I would be tripping over these things all the time getting in and out of the car. I had a set of running boards on my company 2021 Chevy Silverado pickup...

Re: What irritates you about your Volvo XC 40?

I would like it if the AC was at the same temp I left it when I got out instead of the air quality being on with everything set at low. but it could just be me not knowing WTF I'm doing :D Other than that I don't have any of the issues that Hu11tty is referring to, not had an issue with stop/start ...

Re: Volvo’s Integrated Running Boards

I found this picture and description of the XC40 running boards. Personally I think they ruin the lines of the car and you cannot install mudflaps with these installed.

Re: Volvo’s Integrated Running Boards

I've never heard of running boards for the XC40. Not sure why you would need them as the car is low enough to the ground that you would not need them.

Re: Couple of questions.

Anytime you use the paddleshifters they will work regardless of the shift selection.

The active bending headlights are fantastic. The best headlights I have ever experienced. The standard non-bending headlights are not anywhere near as good I have heard.

Re: T3,T4,T5 engine oil

The fact is modern engines in the quest for friction reduction and fuel efficiency are built with fairly low tension piston rings. What this can mean for some, depending on the oil type and how often it gets changed as well as how the car is operated, carbon and residue buildup in the rings can lead...

Re: Goodbye Volvo XC40

Wow - my experience is quite the opposite - going on two years now with my 2019 XC40 R-Design T5. So far - nothing has gone wrong - nothing at all. Solid, no creaks groan or knocks, rides great smooth quiet etc. No issues with climate controls or odd behavior, rain sensing windshield wipers work fin...

Re: What have you just found out about your XC40.

I would think you would want the brake lights on when stopped with the brake on. Just as it would be if you were holding your foot on the pedal. Especially in the dark. I would want any approaching driver from the rear to know I am stopped. I know I sure would want to know if I were approaching a ca...

Re: Checking oil level

That is correct - the instructions are regarding an oil change or adding oil to the engine. After changing or adding oil the car must be driven and then sit so the level sensor can calibrate to the new oil level. After than then you can check it normally.
