Re: Auto stop/start question
I drove a 20mile (2 x 10miles) round trip today in the default Comfort mode. The start/stop was active within a few hundred metres, certainly less than half a mile. It continued to be active at both ends of the short motorway journey. As expected.

Re: Auto stop/start question
Do you use the default comfort mode? Or switch to Dynamic, which disables stop/start.

Re: Auto stop/start question
Mine cuts in a lot early than previous cars. I'm talking after a cold start and a few hundred metres.
Are you using a lot of electrical power as this would have an impact. An example would be wipers, heavy use of AC, Dash cam perhaps.

Re: Clutch Pedal Issue?
Hope you get it sorted. I had a new MK1 VW Golf in the 80s, and the accelerator pedal was attached to the carburettor by a cable. It became detached from the pedal and left me with no power in the middle of a busy roundabout. Coasted to a stop and connected the cable back to the pedal with the draws...

Re: Insurance for Short Term Car Lease
I'd insure with a company that doesn't insist on a tracker. This is becoming more common in insuring high value cars. I'd advise to shop around.
Installing a tracker, there are many companies offering the service, involves a cost to buy and usually a subscription.

Re: What have you just found out about your XC40.
The car has very sharp plastic edges in places. Bottom of door, door frame, edges of rear lights. Poor quality plastic moulds and processes. Never had anything as poor quality as this in my previous car (VW Golf). Passenger cut her calf on the door's sharp point getting out of the car the other day.

Re: Auto Handbrake
As someone who has driven automatics for years I found it initially disconcerting not to have the “creep” when releasing the foot brake. So for me its default position is off. But in traffic or for things like waiting at a level crossing I find it, in combination with stop-start, helpful as it enab...
