Re: Polestar
@James Blonde - that's a useful report. But just to be 100% clear: It sounds like you must have a D4 that's been P*'d; the results on eg a T5 could feel significantly different?

Re: Thoughts most welcome, potential new owner...
... but all BMW/MINI/Landrover Transmissions are from the ZF 8HPXX product range, But they aren't are they? eg all current BMW X1 and X2 apparently use exactly the same Aisin box as the XC40. And many other quality models use related Aisin boxes so I'm not sure that Aisin=budget while ZF=premium re...

Re: Polestar
Hi. Could anyone who has had their XC40 Polestarred let me know how they've found the difference? Are the performance updates very noticeable? And any idea on the cost to have this done? If you care to pause for one second and review this thread, you'll see that it started with what is essentially ...

Are you sure that it's not the Aisin AWF8F35? (Which is apparently used in BMW X1 and X2.)sunscreemer wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 9:08 pm I did hear the Volvo uses the same gearbox that BMW use in the 3 series which I used to have (8AT ZF I believe?).

Re: Thoughts most welcome, potential new owner...
I can't contribute anything specific on the T5 since the XC40 is just something on my shortlist that I'm considering at present. There are things about it that I don't like, which is why I haven't taken the plunge yet, but suspect I could readily live with the performance aspect of T5+Polestar. The ...

Re: MPG - Again :-)
My dealer when I was looking to purchase my XC40 advised me if I did less than 15k / year... This notion does seem to crop up quite a lot - not sure where it comes from. There may be economic reasons for not choosing diesels if you only do average miles/year (though you may well still prefer the hi...

Paddles/gear indication
For those of you with auto+paddles, can someone please tell me:
When can you see on the dash display which gear you're in? Hopefully the question makes sense - it means just what it says!

Re: XC40 or Jaguar E Pace torn between the two. Help.
You should give the E Pace a test drive perhaps. Really hope that you enjoy your choice - I'm guessing that it must be the best fit to your requirements. But suspect that my priorities may be somewhat different and the various YT reviews suggest that it's probably not the model for me. OTOH the fac...

Re: XC40 or Jaguar E Pace torn between the two. Help.
It's interesting - I'm in the middle of much the same dilemma, though my shortlist doesn't include the E-Pace - I really don't care for the rather boring but porky way it looks, but that's obviously just me. Worth remembering that the E-Pace is made in Austria by Magna Steyr and so the build quality...
