Re: XC40 (PHEV) tyres - winter or all seasons

What's does the law demand where you live and where you might go? That's half your answer right there. I put Michelin Crossclimates on mine as, in happier times, I travel to Scotland and the Alps fairly frequently - they have the little mountain peaks symbol on them so are legal in all alpine areas ...

Re: New onboard SIM option

Re: R Design

I suspect the R Design with 18" wheels is the sweet spot, although I acknowledge some might not like the aesthetics. On the plus side you'll have less chance of kerbing those pricey alloys.

A N Other wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:29 pm Were you previous cars all Fords?

Ford held the patent on the heated front windscreen for many years and were the only cars fitted, even in the lower specs.

The patent has now expired, think early 2000s, so other brands now have it.

A timely and better informed post than mine

Re: Heated windscreen - am I missing something?

I'm not a fan of heated windscreens, the wires irritate me, but I had to have one on this car as the only way (at the time) to get the heated seats was to buy the winter pack. I recall reading something years back that every heated windscreen installed meant royalty payments to Ford, as they own the...

Re: Which tyres??

Yeah, tyres are always about compromise and often simply down to preferences. I have another car that is primarily on the drive for warm dry conditions and it's done 655 miles between MOTs 😕(admittedly during lockdown too). I feel comfortable with the Crossclimates, on a 2 tonne car in whatever weat...

Re: Rainy day in Lancashire

Denim Blue is a great colour and was my pick, and then they said "not available on the R Design". Couldn't choose the Inscription due to an allergy to chrome caused by the memory all my dad's cars. It has a deep psychological effect on me; buying a Volvo was bad enough as I'm convinced I'm...

Re: Which tyres??

Mine came with Michelin Primacy 4 (235/55 R18). Switched out to Crossclimates after around 4k miles, partly because I was heading for Scotland and the French Alps over winter but mostly because they're the tyres I prefer. I found the Primacy 4 a bit understeery in the wet at the recommended pressure...
