Re: Parking brake release
Unfortunately, this is the normal behavior of the XC40 parking brake. But it's not normal in the industry. None of my past cars with an electronic parking brake (Mazda CX-5, Peugeot 308, Golf) had such a stubborn electronic parking brake. You get used to it, but it's not ideal. I, too, manually rel...

Re: Unknown status on VOC - tyres??
Maybe unconnected but I have just noticed the car picture in the app viewing the 'car' tab, it no longer shows the actual colour of the car. Checked it after seeing this and it actually shows a white XC60 in my case! It used to be exactly how my car looked (black, inscription). So weird! Android, a...

Re: Unknown status on VOC - tyres??
I forgot to ask as it’s been like that for so long... doh! 😤 Sorry, just being a bit impish! My VOC app has all the same elements apart from the tyres. Mines a T4. It does have tyre pressure monitoring but it's not even listed, as yours is, in the maintenance page. As you can see from my screenshot...

Re: Practical size/use for XC40
Yes, boot space will be smaller than your Octavia, but not by much in real life, certainly less than the numbers suggest (460 l vs. 590 l). However, I would also compare the rear seat width of the two cars, which is something XC40 could do a bit better IMO. Here are the official figures for XC40: Pa...

Re: Driving Modes
Regarding driving modes, can some of you tell me in which cases it is advisable to use the ECO mode? Is it better to use it while driving through the city traffic, while cruising on local roads or while driving 60-80 mph on highways? During winter time? During summer time? Up the hills? Downhill? A...

Re: T4 Recharge PHEV or T3?
If you’re really looking for tried and tested reliability, than choose B4 or B5 where the 2L engine and A8 gearbox has 5 years of user data from the entire Volvo model range. T3 and T4 Recharge have the new 1.5L 3 cylinder engine that currently is only 1 year old, not benefiting from enough user da...

Re: Serious safety incident – Volvo XC40 recharge
That sounds hideous. I’d be tempted to report this to the DVSA (details on .gov.uk web site). They can withdraw a vehicle’s certification or order a recall. Yes! This is outrageous, reminded me of a scene from the dystopian movie "Upgrade", where a fully autonomous car inexplicably speeds...

Re: Back up camera lines
Thanks. I usually prefer the 360 view too but the rear view is more useful when I'm backing up in my kid's school's car park. It has a much larger and clearer field of view which is really handy with little kids running around and cars coming in and out.
