On. Leave on Auto. As others have said, compressor won't engage at very low temps. Modem compressors put far far less load on the engine than 20/30 + years ago. Fuel penalty small, but worth its weight in gold for the dehumidification if several people in the car with wet clothes.

Disappointed Pine Gray has been deleted from XC40. It's now available on XC60 & S90 R-Design and has been on V60 R-Design from the start.

Referring to 'ram' effect from the forward motion of the car. Doesn't work too well these days, especially if a pollen filter is fitted.

Puddle Lights are listed as standard on R-Design and Inscription in the Price & Spec list dated 21/09/17. MY 18 & MY 19 Ed 1. They vanished after that.

Are you sure it's front only ? The way Volvos have been wired up for the last few years is :- light switch in Off, then DRLs front only, light switch in Auto and bright enough to not need headlights, then DRLs front and rear lights too. XC40 Instruction book suggests they are the same.
