Re: Windscreen demisting

Are you sure your electric heater is on? I don’t use the fans to demist, windscreen is clear long before the rear one. Check the icon in the centre display for the windscreen icon with the heartbeat style zigzag. You can just have air demist without electric, so might have switched that on instead. ...

Re: Hands free voice control - standard commands.

Do you have android auto / Apple CarPlay? I use the volvo’s voice commands for temperature and radio, and that’s it. Siri for the rest. Works well.

Re: Can you delete Navigation Maps?

I think it’s Volvo’s servers rather than my ISP’s. I can get 8MBps downloads from other servers.

WRT USB standard, I haven’t bothered looking at the pin count, but reports on here, and personal experience has shown that USB 2 drives are significantly slower at updating the maps.

Re: Can you delete Navigation Maps?

I’m not aware of being able to delete the maps, but make sure your USB stick is USB 3 or better. My USB 3.1 takes a little over half an hour to update the maps on the car. I can’t speak for your internet provider, but my 72Mbps connection downloads the full amp update in about 5 hours as long as I’m...

Re: Anyone else think the reversing light is not bright enough.

I’m surprised so many have difficulty with them,I find them perfectly bright enough. No good for driving at 70mph, but great for 5 mph

Re: HEADLIGHTS

My VWs and Audis didn’t switch the light on with the wipers, although my last one was bought in 2010, so they could well have changed things since then.

Re: R Design or inscription?

Momentum and Inscription are meant to have the same suspension AFAIK. R design is a bit stiffer, or meant to be, but I couldn’t really tell much difference, and prefer a softer ride. I also don’t like the small square motif in the inlays, much prefer the wood and seats of the Inscription.

Re: HEADLIGHTS

I’m surprised by your comments about brightness. These are by far the best headlights I’ve had on any car. I just wish the auto dipped was quicker and could predict a vehicle coming round a corner, but otherwise incredibly clear. Mine do come on in the rain in anything other than drizzle. The rear l...

Map updates with macOS Catalina

Anyone found a version of the map update software for Catalina? I’m having to update using a windows virtual machine because Volvo is too lazy to develop software properly!

Re: Auto Handbrake

I do. I found the same annoyances where it came in too early, but since having the car serviced in September, and the latest software installed, this very rarely happens now. I’m in a manual, so for quick manoeuvring, not having to worry about the handbrake and being able to concentrate more on clut...
