Re: Tow Hook Eye Cover

Fitting a lanyard to throw replacement is exactly what I did.
It’s easy to use a length of nylon cord and some stick on fixings to attach it with both to the cover and on the inside of the bumper..

Re: Confused about engine and transmission options

I definitely agree with the above comment.. The XC40 was my first auto. I’ve driven numerous manuals for 40+ years including an Impreza Turbo 20+ years ago.. The car very occasionally picks the wrong gear and is very relaxed to drive. I’ve averaged 33+mpg and covered 37k miles from new in March 2018...

Re: Tow Hook Eye Cover

I lost the front one a couple of years ago. Not sure how. Only noticed it missing a few days after the car had been parked in a forest car park. I don’t know if a stray branch may have knocked it out. No sign of any damage to the surrounding area. Tried the internet without success for a replacement...

Re: 19 or 20’ wheels? Has the sunroof improved or is it still giving people issues?

I’ve had a First Edition XC40 since just after they were released 4 1/2 years ago, having ordered it when they were first announced.. I had a no cost option choice and deliberately chose 19” wheels instead of 20” ones. I’ve had no regrets over this choice and so far the wheels are unmarked after 37k...

Re: 8 Speed AWD Vs 7 Speed FWD

I completely agree with Felindre.
I’ve today driven 350 miles from Cornwall in the wet.
The 8 speed gearbox is very smooth and changes are unnoticeable. Uphill under power only the Rev counter gives any indication of a gear change.

Re: Dashcam - Again!

My MY2018 has the front camera in almost exactly the the same position as Emjay’s. No interference has been noticed with the Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pilot Assist, etc. The car has been through the Dealers service several times with the camera in situ and no comments made with regard to...

Re: Dashcam - Again!

I had a Nextbase 322GW and rear camera fitted by Halfords nearly 3 years ago. The cameras work perfectly and DAB works well for most radio stations. There were initially a few issues with DAB reception but these were sorted with a bit of adjustment and possibly a ferrite core, As the installation wa...

Re: Automatic rear windscreen wiping when reversing

I have the front wipers on my car set to automatic. The rear wiper does work when reverse is selected but only if the main wipers are actually working at the time.

Re: Roof bars

Volvo roof bars are definitely rebadged Thule ones. I think that they are Wingbars Evo 108. Ref 711100.

Re: Faults - Worried!

PlymDave, Like every other forum I think you’ll find that a lot of people will only post negative reviews. Positive reviews don’t get posted as much. Just to reassure you. It’s nearly 4 years since I ordered my XC40 and nearly 3 1/2 since I took delivery. I’ve done 28k miles in that time and luckily...
