Re: Another Failed Auxiliary Drive Belt-B4 Mild Hybrid

several members have reported tension-pulley bearing failures. Bearings wear and finally fail over relatively long periods of time, new ones failing should at least raise some interest? Maybe it's my background in science and engineering, but no, not with me it doesn't. What would raise my interest...

Re: Another Failed Auxiliary Drive Belt-B4 Mild Hybrid

Not safety critical until you try and take a loved one to A+E and the belt snaps, admittedly a fairly low probability. "Fairly low" of course meaning massively unlikely ;) In general it's probably best to try and keep a sense of perspective on these things, rather than worrying unnecessar...

Re: Battery drain

Is the car working fine? If it is, then I would suggest you try not to worry about it, use the car normally, and check on the battery in a month. Then perhaps check it after another couple of months, if you're still concerned about it. I certainly wouldn't expect a three-mile drive to put any charge...

Re: Auto start/off and pilot assist

It's not possible to disable the stop-start system, but in the B4 it's almost seamless anyway - once you're used to it, you'll hardly notice it at all. Also, it doesn't only switch the engine off when you come to a halt, it also does it when you're coasting - and you'll hardly notice that either, un...

Re: Does the forum provide a balanced view?

Ask a question along the lines of "I'm thinking of buying a Volvo or some other car what do you think" and all the lurkers who are super happy will pop out and tell you how great their Volvos are. Of course if you went to a BMW group and asked the same question, the answer would of course...

Re: Does the forum provide a balanced view?

I think you're right - forums like this will naturally be used to discuss issues that some owners are having with their cars, while people whose cars are working flawlessly have less reason to contribute, and we might just dip in and have a quick look from time to time but not very often. So it can ...

No, there really isn't  But each to their own - I can see how plenty of people would be a lot happier with a much more affordable car.

Re: New software load incoming

Mine always says it will take "up to" 90 minutes, but I can't remember it ever actually taking longer than about 20 minutes. I always do the installation in a place that could be easily accessed by a tow truck just in case it completely fails to respond when I try to open it and start it -...

No problem with mine.
If you're in Europe, yours will have been built in Belgium, not China.

Re: Well, what a surprise!

With EVs, carbon emissions are something of a red herring - at least until a large majority of energy production worldwide becomes fully renewable, which isn't going to happen any time soon. The real on-the-ground benefit of EVs is that they improve air quality in cities because they have no tailpip...
