Yes, it could. Like when the air conditioner kicks in at idle and changes the load on the engine (reducing the rpm). Probably a number of other things it could be also. Is it like a thin metallic noise?

Sounds like it might be a heat shield that's come loose, pretty common on all vehicles eventually but seems a bit early for a 2 year old car.

I had the exact same problem when I got mine and thought there was a problem with it. I did a search and the answer for me was to kick and and STEP BACK from the door, I wasn't stepping back. Now it works every time.

I don't remember having read anything about a feature like that however I stopped into a restaurant and came back out and found my hazards were flashing even though I hadn't had them on.
