I had same problem but refused to pay the high prices quoted.
So cut a piece of ply which fits on the ledge and goes up and over the back bit near the rear seats. Covered with car carpet and it looks the part. Now have a thin storage area under the boot floor ideal for brollys etc.

Re: Knocking sound when steering the wheel to the right side
Just a point, i didn't really hear a "knock" it's more a feeling coming through the steering wheel. Its like the feeling when uj couplings are wearing and you can feel it.

Re: Knocking sound when steering the wheel to the right side
It's a known fault. Mixture of incorrect torque settings on the suspension top. Can weaken the rubber. Very hard to pinpoint but full lock at slow speeds usually shows it. Get them to do both sides.

Re: Noise when steering right
Had the same but both left and right at very slow speed. Found to be the front turret tops. They replaced both sides and re-torqued to a different setting.

Re: Steering noise
Hmm beware of the lubricants you use on whatever flexible polymer... You should only use silicon grease on rubber type stuff. Mineral oil based lubricants can make rubber swell I agree, my dad always said never put vaseline on rubber! On the original point, the noise was only when moving forward or...

Steering noise
Car in for repair after developing a noise while parking. At very slow speeds (parking) and with full righthand lock there is a noise from the front left wheel. Both forward and reverse. You can also feel the knocking through the steering wheel. Volvo dealer has been very good and have noticed the s...
