Re: Heater Issues

My wife had the same issue a couple of years ago and stopped to ring me. I advised the standard remedy for most software glitches - park, turn everything off, get out of the car and lock it; wait 5-10 minutes before unlocking and driving away. This usually works, and it did in her case - and has not...

Re: Incorrect spec on delivery

When my 2016 Mercedes SLC was delivered my wife sat in the car whilst I completed the paperwork - until she soon came back and asked why it had 3 pedals instead of two! Mercedes had built it as Manual not Automatic. I got a demonstrator on loan for the 2 months it took to build another to the correc...

Re: Daylight running lights

The simple way to find out whether your automatic headlights are on in daylight fog or drizzle is to drive REALLY close to the car in front and look at the reflections in its paintwork. Then, when stopped by your friendly local police for dangerous driving, you can have an entertaining discussion ab...

Re: What irritates you about your Volvo XC 40?

The poor reversing camera image at night is not because the camera is poor, it's because of the pathetic LED reversing lights on the XC40. trying to reverse down a narrow driveway with stone walls on either side is a nightmare after dark, even with rear fog lamps, hazard warning lights and brake lig...

Re: Glasses Holder

Picked my blonde version up from the dealer and fitted it today (cost £4.80 + VAT - incredibly good value!). When I ordered it my dealer said that they were not recommended for cars with sunroof because of the risk of damaging the headlining but I couldn't see why there should be a problem. My guess...

Re: Back up camera lines

I had to back into a space yesterday, in daylight, and the parked car behind me had a grey plastic winter cover over it. In the overhead camera view it was virtually invisible and I had to stop dead and check through the rear window!

Re: XC40 Software update - wiped all my settings

My dealer specifically asked about a few of settings (auto-locking was one) when I dropped the car off. I wondered why, but realised later that it so that they could reset them after the update.

Re: Roof noise with rain

The weird gurgling noise from the sunroof when travelling at speed in (or just after) rain is a known problem and all dealers should now be aware of the fix - which involves extending the two drainage tubes. The official fix was issued in the summer and mine was done during its first service last mo...

Re: Turbo Issues T3 ?

Just stopping and re-starting the car may not be enough to reset it. We've had a couple of system errors (one of which set the heating to full on) but they cleared when the car was turned off and locked, waiting for a few minutes for all the systems to turn off, then unlocked and started normally. B...

Re: Can you drive the T5 sedately?

Our Inscription Pro was bought for my wife, as a quiet, very comfortable cruiser and about-town car. She chose the car and the options, I chose the engine (T5). She's a cautious driver and loves the car for its comfort and driver aids (lane assist, adaptive cruise, etc.) I like the power that's avai...
