Re: Upgrade older xc40 software with Android Auto from Recharge version
As a long term software designer and systems integrator I'm of the opinion that those that are proficient with hardware are invariably hopeless with their software and Sony are the perfect example; from cameras to gaming machines they've ploughed a proprietary furrow and are forever getting it wrong...

Re: Speed Camera Alerts
Thanks for the info
I've been a good boy when driving through France for the last 28 years, after a VERY expensive visit to a mobile office set up in an aire near Dijon - with motorcycle escort
Good to know that the satnav won't cause any future issues though

Re: Speed Camera Alerts
I thought that the providers/manufacturers of Sat Navs had stopped putting speed camera data for countries like France into their systems? I didn't know that - is anyone aware of anywhere I can check this, especially with reference to Volvo's satnav? I'm aware of the arguments over identifying fixe...

Re: Speed Camera Alerts
Every time I take this car to France" (which has been never since March '20) I've had to relearn how to switch this off and on. The process still hasn't burned into my memory - it's a bit counterintuitive imho

Re: Which options / packs are a must?
I like the winter pack but I wouldn't put it in my essential list - and make sure the heating elements don't annoy you. I have always found them a minor irritation, especially at night. My only essential was adaptive cruise control, one of these things that once you've had it you'll never want to be...

Re: What have you just found out about your XC40.
Just been hit by the first snows..... I have an AWD version. Is there anyway of checking when this is in operation? If you're in a ditch, it probably didn't work 🤨 In truth, it will really depend on your tyres - if on summer tyres you'll not notice a huge difference with AWD on snow - maybe slightl...

Re: XC40 (PHEV) tyres - winter or all seasons
@gt40 - do you keep the same rims while changing tyres no? Yes, same rims. I sold the original tyres and that's it for me. When the Crossclimates wear down I'll replace them with the same or similar. I worked out a while ago that for a certain type of car, given normal usage, and for my requirement...
