Re: Paint scratch help!

One of the problems with a smart repair is the risk of grit or dust showing on the repair. As the scratch seems quite deep, it is likely to need several coats to get an invisible repair. Our local Fiat franchise (now closed) managed to inflict a similarly deep scratch on a door cill when out Fiat 50...

Re: T3 RDesign or T5 Momentum?

My T3 manual is getting an indicated average mpg of low to mid 40s, with a calculated brim-to-brim figure only up to 2 - 3mpg less than that. The indicated figure on a recent trip from Scotland to Holland is 44.3mpg, and that was with a roof box and a fully loaded car. Quite impressive for a heavy c...

Re: Free DATA for MY2020

Update: had a reply almost instantaneously from the salesman whom I dealt with (Carlisle). They have just received their SIM cards from Volvo, and will be distributing them asap. The press release says the cars need booked in for fitting, but it is really easy to install at home. Well done Volvo (an...

There have been a number of spammers joining in the last day or two. I wonder if the system can be tweaked to try to prevent this?

Re: Free DATA for MY2020

Just messaged my dealer to see if the car really has to be booked in to the service dept, or whether it can be posted out for customer installation.

Re: New XC40 ordered

Mine is T3 inscription pro manual, so slightly different to yours. I get 38-40mpg (calculated) and find it a really nice car. It is not designed to be hustled quickly round twisty roads, more of a family cruiser. If you accept it is a Volvo and not BMW/Audi, you should love it.

Re: Take Note! Trim Piece issue in Passenger Compartment (on a RHD UK XC40)

If you look closely in the brochure, you can just make it out in exactly the same position in LHD cars, ie in the left footwell. I am not sure, but suspect it must be there to give easy access for the dealers to repair whatever is under there. In RHD cars, it looks like it could be used as a pen hol...

Re: Aftermarket roof bars

I have a set of Modula bars from Driveden. They are extendable, so easy to swap to other vehicles with similar roof rails. They do a perfectly good job, have been fully tested and certified, and cost less than £100.

Re: Xc40 total loss of power on run

I had an almost identical scenario three years ago with my 63 reg XC70 (sold shortly thereafter). It was the alternator - apparently it had "disintegrated" according to the local Volvo dealer. Fixed under warranty, fortunately.
