Re: Car choices on a budget?

I always thought my car (in sig below ↓) was the sweet spot in terms of value for money. I was 100% happy with it. I'd suggest looking for an auto T3 from 2019-2021.

Indeed. In some countries it's illegal to have two rear fog lights.

Re: Anyone ordered an EX30?

When Toyota pioneered the centre driver's dash in the 2005 Yaris lots of people were saying it improved safety as your eyes on the speedo would be nearer the centre of the road ahead rather than further down on the offside: Screenshot 2024-02-04 111616.png It didn't catch on though for some reason.

Re: Anyone ordered an EX30?

At £38k the ER version is definitely good value for a decent-range EV compared to the rest of the market. If I wanted an EV I'd probably try and arrange an extended test drive to see whether I could live with the ridiculous dash arrangement. If an excellent voice control system obviated the need to ...

Probably because it deletes the HUD. It's pathetic that they can't offer a HUD with a heated screen, like my mid-spec Nissan has.

Re: New owner - Still learning how stuff works

Laminated side windows were an option on the SPA cars, but have never been on the XC40. I think the windscreen is just a regular one, I don't think it's even acoustic glass (which is quite common nowadays on e.g. Fords, Nissans etc). However you can check this by looking at the markings in the corne...

Re: Glovebox lock

BTW For the question of why would the glovebox key be the same as the car key? The main reason why the glovebox locks is to prevent theft. Anybody who has had their car broken into knows the typical approach is that the thief smashes the passenger window then opens the glovebox to see if the satnav...

Re: Buying used - things to check/be aware

The main thing I'd say is to check it has every feature that you may require and that are important to you, from foldable rear headrests to a lockable glove box. Lots of little things like this disappeared without notice and so may not accurately be reflected in the published spec of the vehicle whi...

Re: Insurance Renewals

As well as a dramatic increase in costs, insurers have also reconfigured their risk profiling. I'd therefore recommend disregarding past pricing and starting over - use at least three comparison services in addition to getting quotes form insurers not on such services e.g. Aviva, NFU etc.
