Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
An interesting argument, but already covered! The EV take up will be gradual, especially as NEW Fossil fuel cars will still be available until 2035 in the UK, giving the industry experts plenty of time to iron out all the wrinkles. Please note, Hybrids will also be excluded from then on… which is ma...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Over 94 % of electric car owners say they would not go back to fossil fuels (and obviously, most of them are in older low range vehicles). As for the charging infrastructure, personally, we are in the 60% of people in the UK with a drive, so we will be charging at home at 5p / KWH, and our (retired)...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Thank you for your interest ChrisLF, and the chance to finish on a lighter note! We are currently running the Citigo, which to be honest, is nice to get back to basics and makes you ask yourself, was paying the premium for all that tech on the XC40 really necessary. Especially as it’s now being intr...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Sorry Guys… After another sleepless night, the XC40 has gone. Monday, the dealership manager re-confirmed his and Volvo’s position… i.e, no support from VCUK if you want to leave the brand, and that the dealership ‘buy back’ offer, was his final one. His other advice was to try ‘We Buy Any Car’, bec...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Hello Everyone, The only answer Volvo Technical can give is that there is an inherent problem with the 19” alloys, and have asked me to downsize to 18”, which I have of course refused (after changing drive shafts, prop shaft, rear drive unit, tyres, wheels etc etc). Volvo Customer Relations and now ...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Hello Shef’98, sorry no solution from Volvo yet. At least 3 owners have given up and gone to other brands. More information would be useful, as I will be talking to Volvo Customer relations again shortly, eg., Vibration from new? Speeds most apparent? Wheel size and tyres fitted. FWD / AWD, Ambient ...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
I'm in total agreement ChisLF, but cannot give you any more detail at the moment. This is because there is a danger it could compromise my current situation with Volvo! All will be revealed, when things are finally settled. XC40 | First Edition | D4 AWD | Bursting Blue | 19" Continental Premium...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
New alloys and tyres now fitted on the rear. Vibration re-test completed by the Volvo UK tech. Result… exactly the same, i.e. still out of acceptable limits! Volvo are now saying that it seems likely there is an inherent issue with the 19” alloys fitted to the R-Design (and First Editions). More inf...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Hello all, Information gleaned from the Volvo UK Tech (I did not want to swamp you last time, but as you seem interested)…. The vibration is in the range of 16Hz to 22Hz, but mainly around 19Hz. This is coincident with one full rotation of a wheel at about 70MPH. These frequencies are at the very lo...

Re: Vibrations @55-80mph
Test drive today (with the Volvo UK tech) confirmed I was not going crazy, and that although most of the audible resonance has gone, the physical vibration is still there at roughly the same levels as when he initially tested the car. Two new wheels and tyres now being ordered up for the rear. He al...
