Re: Noise from top of driver's door?
Same here. It was 3C on my drive and freezing fog from London to Birmingham, then sunny and a bit warmer heading north. There was a lot of salt on the motorway and drying on the windscreen. I wonder if water from the fog was freezing along the top of the door, and a mixture of screen wash and salt f...

Re: Noise from top of driver's door?
As it happens I had exactly this today 15 Jan 2022, on the motorway at speed, for the first time ever (car is just 3 years old). It seemed to follow use of the screen washer, which resulted in a stream of water being directed off the windscreen by the slipstream/wind direction, at an angle up the dr...

Re: Brake Pads
But as a cyclist, I know it makes sense to apply the rear brake before the front, in order to not be tipped over the handlebars. Does Volvo apply this principle to the XC40?

Re: Could you drive it into a brick wall?
It will stop. Had this happen last Friday already braking to slow down for the back of a stationary queue to enter M6 roadworks. The computer obviously thought I wasn't braking hard enough, the seat belts retracted and I was pulled into the seat very firmly indeed, the brake pedal departed contact w...

I use a Ctek trickle charger as used in many car showrooms. Can be left on for months if necessary.

Re: To fog light or not to fog light?
Any opinions to help me take a decision on whether its worth another email to the dealer and another 200 EUR (price if selected as a separate option) would be much appreciated ;) I have always gone in the past for the fog lights option if not standard. My main reason was not that they make a huge d...

Re: Factory Orange Peel Paintwork
“sophisticated factory processes tha create the superb finish on a Volvo“ It doesn’t seem likely that the factory robotics would produce such flaws. On the other hand, it used to be common in the car industry for any scrapes and knocks in transit during delivery to be touched up, inevitably of small...

“Whilst on the M6 in Brum, I managed to test the crash-avoidance system for real. I am pleased to say it worked - I would almost certainly have hit the car in front without it. That Sensus system can be quite a distraction.... Lesson leant??” 10 out of ten for collision avoidance. A real life saver....
