Re: Windscreen washers
Thanks, that's what I thought. I wonder what they've done... they had the car in for 4 days with this fault, giving off a definite air of "we don't know what's wrong". In the end they told me they replaced the wiper motor, but I'm not clear how that fixed a wiper fluid issue, or why now the fluid ha...

Re: Standard XC 40 Stereo
Bit late to this thread, but I got to drive an XC90 with a standard sound system for 4 days this week. This gave me some kind of base to compare my HK system with. In my view, the XC40 HK system is not perfect, but it is markedly better than the standard sound. Whether the upgrade is worth the money...

Windscreen washers
Slightly odd question, but when you activate your windscreen washers, do they emit a constant stream of fluid, or is it more of a pulse - like 1 second on, 1 second off, etc? Had my car in the garage for a few days this week, having a "wiper fault" error looked at (the wipers were working, but washe...

Re: Non-Volvo towbar - any issues?
Thanks. Just to confirm this - the Volvo towbar automatically disables BLIS, Pilot Assist and rear parking sensors - is that when the towbar is extracted (irrespective of if anything is attached) or only when a trailer or bike carrier is attached? And presumably there is no such software upgrade tha...

Non-Volvo towbar - any issues?
I’d like to get a towbar fitted, mainly to use a bike carrier once or twice a month. I’m pretty sure I can live without the convenience of deploying and retracting the towbar at a push of a button, so am investigating non-Volvo detachable towbars (which I reckon can get fitted for half the price of ...

Re: Port to dealer timescales...?
In my case I got told the car was in the country 7 days before it arrived at the dealers. They then took another 5 days to do whatever it is they do before I could pick the car up. I think you can justify getting pant-wettingly excited from early next week.

Re: Brake groan
Was going to start a new post asking about brake groans and a quick search has dug up this thread. I've got the exact same thing going on - low speed manoeuvring, particularly if on a slope, and the brakes make groaning noises. Fine in normal driving - I normally just get it at home as my drive is o...

Re: Carpet/Parcel Shelf Fibre?
YES! Although I’ve only just realised this after reading your post. Last week I did a tip run and after storing the parcel shelf and loading the car with rubbish, I had what felt like splinters or a sharp pins and needles sensation in both hands. At the time I’d assumed it was something from the mat...

Re: Test drive questions
I agree the Audi and Seat has the edge over the Volvo purely in terms of performance and the responsiveness of the gearbox. I test drove an Ateca, and both a Q2 and Q3 - they are definitely sharper, punchier drives. I just found on balance the XC40 offered more, some great tech as standard and a goo...
