Re: Auto Handbrake

For short stops I use the foot brake (but with an individual drive mode in which stop/start is disabled. For longer stops I use the manual handbrake in exactly the same way as I have done for years on cars without the auto handbrake. Works fine for me on the type of driving I normally do - though I ...

Re: Auto Handbrake

When I picked up my car a year ago the sales lady explained the auto handbrake to me, and as it sounded like a useful facility I asked her to turn it on. Big mistake. The first time I drove the car I had to get it out of a very tight space in the dealer's car park - and because of the auto handbrake...

Re: Start/Stop system - how much fuel does it use?

I have never liked the stop/start system, and as far as I can see the only way of disabling it is to create an Individual driving mode. In my case I based this on the Comfort mode, the only difference being that Stop-Start is disabled. The problem though is that every time I start the car I have to ...

Re: T5 - Start/Stop

I agree that for an automatic it is nothing but a nuisance, so I have created an Individual Driving Mode with it disabled. Unfortunately this means that I have to remember to select this mode every time I start the car, as it insists in always starting in Comfort mode, and there is no way of amendin...

Re: Remote Start settings

I haven't set up a profile, and the automatic settings seem to work OK in both normal and remote start. This probably means that the settings used for remote start are those held in whatever the default profile is - since the remote start (i.e. without the keys being present) will have no way of kno...

Re: No point in getting R-design in Canada

I found the steering a bit light in my Inscription in Comfort mode, after my sporty old Saab 9-5 Aero, so when I created my Individual drive mode (mainly because I wasn't happy with the stop/start feature) I took the option to make it slightly heavier, which for me feels better.

Re: Sun Visors. Anyone have any comments/concerns?

I drove along a winding road yesterday in blinding sun, and wherever I positioned the visor - front or side - it never seemed to be in the right place. (Also, I find swinging it from front to side quite awkward, as my head gets in the way, making it quite a dangerous manoeuvre while on the move.) I ...

Re: Sun Visors. Anyone have any comments/concerns?

My old Saab had two sun visors - the main one which could be swung round to cover the side window and another, fixed, one underneath to cover the windscreen when the main one was moved to the side. Very useful when driving towards the sun on a winding road. A simple idea which it is surprising Volvo...
