The rot set in with electric starter motors. What on earth was wrong with the manual crank handle...

It's very subjective of course. I'd put Volvo at the mid-point between Audi and Volkswagen, but moving gradually towards Audi.

Re: Recharge help needed

OK, it's a bit of a crazy idea, but I'll put it out there... Could you get a small hatch installed with a weatherproof cover in your garage wall, aligned with the position of the car charging port. This would enable you to connect the cable from an external wall box. It may also give you the option ...

Re: Stop Start function and trickle charging

"...The Volvo XC40 stop start definitely has problems" But not a widespread problem, my XC40 stop/start system works perfectly. Why let facts get in the way of a good sweeping generalisation 🙂. 'I don't have this problem, therefore it cannot be widespread'. Why let faulty logic get in the...

Re: New car new forum

Welcome!

I sympathise re the LR. I chose the XC40 over an Evoque because our main car is a 'full-fat' Range Rover and I didn't want two JLR products at the same time. 2 years on the XC has had no faults at all and with AWD and excellent ground clearance is a 'proper' SUV IMO.

Re: VOC. Can't get out of standby.

Thanks to all who replied.

When I tried this morning I had been automatically signed out of VOC. When I signed in again all was working fine so it would appear to have been some sort of VOC bug rather than the car itself - which is a relief!.

VOC. Can't get out of standby.

A few days ago for the first time ever VOC told me the car was in standby. Since then the car has been started manually and driven on several journeys. I've also fully charged the battery using an 'intelligent' trickle charger and checked I have the latest version of the VOC app. All to no avail, VO...

Re: Cleaning chrome window strips

Personally, I would start cautiously with a mild acid such as lemon juice or white vinegar on a small area. It's not exactly the same thing, but a chopped up lemon boiled in a kettle and left overnight removes mild limescale very easily.

Re: Brake-by-wire question...

I suspect Cornishman is referring to the regenerative braking when the hybrid element of the B4 is charging after lifting off the accelerator pedal. This (I imagine) produces a slowing effect a bit like being in a low gear in a manual car. Many fully electric cars allow the driver to choose the leve...

Probably been wrapped to colour-match the owner's Lambo and blend in inconspicuously in Knightsbridge.
