Re: Remote Start

My previous car (Skoda Superb) had a heated screen but that used a metallic film as one of the layers in the laminated screen. Totally invisible from inside the cabin but in certain lighting conditions it was visible from outside as a slight greenish tint. It worked far better than the wire element ...

Re: Failed Auxiliary Drive Belt - after 529 miles...

Remember adding a few squirts of 3in1 into my mini’s dashpot many many years ago and tuning the engine using a wooden rod between engine block and ear hole for feedback.
Happy times 😉😂

Re: MPG - Again :-)

BTW, I've been using an iPhone app called "Road Trip" for a decade now (on my old car and now on my XC 40) and I highly recommend it. It even has tire size correction, so you can get more accurate mpg based on real distances and not based on numbers written on a car dashboard. Or good old brim to b...

Re: MPG - Again :-)

Hi PJ, welcome back. I use the “Fuelly” app to record fuel usage. Looking through my records on the app my overall average is 37mpg, best ever was 49.5mpg. All of my over 40mpg records were on long distance , mainly motorway/dual carriageway trips. Rest are shorter trips with 70/30 split of rural an...

Re: MPG - Again :-)

I'm not that satisfied with 34 mpg for a D4 engine, but I blame the Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires on that. Hope I'll get better results with Continental summer tires soon. Don’t get your hopes up too high, 34mpg is pretty much what I’m getting at the moment on the original tyres, 10.2k miles on the...

Re: T4 Recharge PHEV or T3?

Thanks but what put me off the B4 was I read the fuel economy is particularly worse comparing it to the T3 Sorry, but that’s actually not true. There’s only a slight difference between the two in WLTP mileage figures and CO2 emissions are 4g (meaning 3%) higher for T3 vs. B4. Check the official dat...

Re: T4 Recharge PHEV or T3?

Thanks but what put me off the B4 was I read the fuel economy is particularly worse comparing it to the T3 If fuel economy is a concern for you then don’t get an XC40 with an ICE 😉 As aerodynamic as a brick, weighs as much as a small tank, fuel tank too small and the AWD doesn’t help either... Look...

Re: Polestar 2 Anyone ?

I’ve no intention in going to an electric vehicle until the national refuelling infrastructure to support them is in place,10 to 15 yrs down the line maybe?, and the price of electric vehicles comes down significantly. Until then the owner will always have to compromise on the convenience/functional...

Re: Install and activate Vodafone P-SIM

So after the first year that’s when you spend the £36+ ...The Vodapain sim only started to be issued with new cars in 2020. Plenty of cars made before that never had one. This is just not true. You can see from the Volvo link that the free SIM has been offered since 2018. My car was bought and pick...
